Offered here is a charming and increasingly rare piece of Lionel history: three original components from the elusive “Lady Lionel” pastel train set—produced for only a short time in the mid-1950s. This listing includes:
-
Lionel 2037 Pink Steam Locomotive (O-27 gauge)
-
Matching Pink Lionel Lines Tender
-
Mint Green & Yellow M-K-T Boxcar No. 6464515
Originally designed to appeal to girls in the postwar era, this set stood apart with its soft pastel palette—an ambitious move by Lionel that unfortunately didn’t catch fire at the time. As a result, these pink locomotives and pastel freight cars were pulled from production, making them a holy grail for collectors today.
Unlike later K-Line pastel offerings, this is a genuine Lionel set from the classic postwar period. The No. 2037 locomotive features a pink-painted metal boiler with crisp detailing and drive rods. The tender is molded in matching pink plastic with embossed "Lionel Lines" lettering. The 6464-style Katy boxcar stands out with bold black print over pastel mint and lemon yellow doors.
Condition Notes:
These pieces appear to be in very good vintage condition with minor signs of age. The pastel finish on the engine and tender is still vibrant and clean. The underside motor plate is clearly marked Lionel 027, and the boxcar base is stamped with 6464-009.
This is a unique chance to own an original Lionel pastel trio that rarely comes to market.
